1. Project Overview
Maria’s Tortilla is a compact hospitality venue in Dulwich, London, combining bar service and casual dining within a warm, eclectic interior. Timber flooring, a substantial wooden bar, vintage graphics and warm lighting establish the character of the space. Defaico supplied vintage genuine leather bar chairs and dining chairs to support both the main counter and secondary seating areas.
2. Project Requirements
The narrow footprint required furniture that could add useful guest capacity without restricting circulation. High seating needed to work efficiently along the bar, while dining chairs had to fit compact perimeter tables. The furniture also needed to complement the existing timber, retro signage and warm color palette rather than introduce a contrasting modern style.
3. Defaico Solution
The solution focused on a coordinated leather seating specification. Reddish-brown upholstery, dark wooden frames and traditional detailing create continuity between bar and dining zones. Repeating related chair forms across different seating positions helps the venue maintain a clear visual identity while supporting different guest behaviors.
